The company sponsors a number of community events, but more importantly, the employees have a committee that organizes coat drives, food drives and community projects involving employees, friends and spouses to help the communities.

- Builders Exchange Cornerstone Award
The Builders Exchange Cornerstone Award was created in 1954 to honor an individual who exemplifies outstanding service and commitment to the local construction industry and community. The Company has earned this award three times:

1997: George J. Igel Jr. - Builders Exchange President's Award
Initiated in 1979, the BX President's Award is given to an individual who has volunteered countless hours behind the scenes to develop Exchange programs. The company has earned this award one time:
2002: Joseph A. Igel - Builders Exchange Craftsmanship Award
The company's craftspeople have built projects to a quality that has been recognized as exemplary by the BX. The company has had six award winners for work for grading, rip-rap placement and hardscape concrete.

The company has earned recognition for three unique safety ideas from its peers.
2002/2003: for an engineered-approved "doghouse shelter" that is fastened to the back of a trench box to protect crew members while pipe is being set or the box is being slid during work in a deep sewer.
2008/2009: for a manhole top with a guardrail system and access for catwalks.
2009/2010: for a corporation stop remover that can directly access the corporation stop, remove it and plug the tapped bore. - 2001 Ohio Contractor's Association Safety Award
